Concerts: Wiz Khalifa's "Waken Baken" Tour

On September 30, 2010, the Pittsburgh-native gave the U of I campus a visit and put on a show that I will always remember. His show started off with a unique DJ that goes by the name of Bonics. He warmed up the crowd with songs from familiar artists like Mac Miller and Curren$y. The special guest was an artist named Yelawolf. He performed a few songs including "FU", "Good To Go", and "Pop The Trunk". He also threw lighters, Monster Energy Drinks, and hats into the crowd. Unfortunately, I didn't catch one. Bonics came back out afterwards to warm us up for Wiz. The time came and Wiz comes on stage. Crowd goes bonkers. Not only did he perform songs from Waken Baken, but did old and new songs, too, including my favorite, "This Plane". I must say that Wiz has a great personality on and off stage. Some of the footage can be seen in the video. For those of you that went to concert, how'd you like it?

A Simple Blazer Can Make an Outfit POP!

I've been so obsessed with blazers that I've started a collection. I have noticed that with a blazer you can make an outfit look really classy and dope at the same time. There are many ways you can wear a blazer. I personally like to wear my blazers with skinny jeans and heels, it gives me that grown and shopisticated look( you can never go wrong with that). I would advise ever girl to go get a blazer ASAP you never know when you will need that one thing to make your out POP!lol.  You can get a blazer at Forever 21, H&M or any other department store. I usually go to H&M and Forever 21.So go buy one!!!

In my Zone 2

Chris had done it again releasing his 3rd official mixtape titled In my zone 2 hosted by the one and only DJ Drama. In my zone 2 was released yesterday (11/27) Chris released his mixtape via twitter. As a big CB fan I was extra excited to download it, I downloaded it and I wasn't sure how to react to it. There were some songs that I liked but it wasn't as great as In my zone or even Fan of a Fan (with Tyga). I've only had the mixtape for one day and i've only listened to 5 times. I guess I gotta give it a chance to grow on me. Don't get me wrong I love CB and I respect his music, I just feel like this wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I'll continue to listen to it and see if my opinion will change. What do you guys think of In my Zone 2?

You can download In my zone 2, In my zone, and Fan of a fan below:

Pink Friday

Pink Friday was released Last Friday November 19th and I must say Nicki put her all into this album. Pink Friday is such a Dope album! Nicki lived up to all the hype behind the album and in my eyes made Wayne proud. With tracks like " Romans Revenge '' Blazin ft Kanye West'' ''Dear old Nicki'' Did it on em'' and Moment for life ft Drake'' you get to hear Nicki spit just raw fire and tell a story. But also on the album you have songs like '' Right Through me'' Check it out ft Will.I.am'' and ''Your love'' that shows more of an R&B and pop side of Nicki. Nicki gives us the best of both worlds in a sense and shows that she can rap but still give you a R&B/pop sound. I think this album met all of the expectations that many people had. It is a great album, go support Nicki and purchase the album on Itunes or Amazon. Also check out Nicki's documentary on MTV titled ''My Time Now" tomorrow 11/28 at 10 pm.

Loud

Rihanna's 5th studio album Loud came out November 12th. I have not had a chance to listen to the album until today and I must say Rihanna did a good job on this album. It is more of a pop album and you really get to hear Rihanna sing on this album. On the album there are a couple of songs that I can not stop listening to such as "What's my name ft Drake" " Raining men ft Nicki Minaj'' ''Skin'' ''Only Girl(in the world)''and ''Fading'' You can listen to some snippets of the songs from the album on the you tube video I have posted below.Loud is great album and I hope you guys purchase it on Itunes.

J. Cole's "Friday Night Lights" Review

So I have been listening to J. Cole’s “Friday Night Lights” mixtape for the past few days. I was never really a huge J. Cole fan, the most I had heard from him was as a feature with one or two versus on a song. I have though, always admired his hustle, he loved his music but he still made sure that he had a backup plan, A COLLEGE DEGREE. This was one of the reasons that I decided to take a closer listen to what this young man had to say. After giving is a run through, I must say that I am not disappointed.
“Friday Night Lights” gives a vivid look into Cole’s route to success. He speaks of his challenges in being a student and pursuing a music career; this mixtape is the reflection of a man on his grind.  There is an essence of hope in these songs, a man dreaming of a better day, free from crime, haters, and dream killers. J. Cole takes us on a journey of turning dreams into reality, while still staying true to the fact that this reality is far from being dream-like. His words flow with truth and his voice pulsates with passion.  “Friday Night Lights” is J. Cole’s story put to music. It is a story that everyone can relate to no matter your background.
I really like that fact that the instrumentals do not overshadow the lyrical content. Instead, the music compliments the flow. Some of my favorite songs on the mixtape are, “Cost Me A Lot”, (this stays on repeat. Having swag like this takes work.) “Home for the Holidays”(I can see myself 2-steppin’ to this one lol), “Blow Up”, (“This is a song for my haters”) “Too Deep for the Intro”, (“If they don’t know your dreams, than they cant shoot ‘em down”) “Before I’m Gone”, (“I got dreams bigger than your whole team”) “See World” (This one really touched my heart. The news clippings in the background were an impactful choice). I really enjoyed the entire mixtape but these are just a few songs that stood out to me. If you haven’t yet, check out and download J. Cole’s “Friday Night Lights” (You can find it in Glo’s post right below this one). If you are a true fan of lyrical content that has substance, you will have this one on repeat. Spread the word.
